Textile Artist and Maker
Laura Elford is a Kent based Textile Artist, Maker and Creative Educator.
Laura’s appreciation for slow made, traditional craft and technical skill were formed from over 10 years experience working as a Knitwear Designer in London. Learning from skilled crafts people, and through her own work she now practices in a range of textile processes that celebrate slow hand worked skills.
Laura gained an MA from London’s Royal College of Art in Fashion Womenswear, specialising in Knitwear. She then went on to work for many High Street and High End brands for a number of years as Fashion Designer, before starting her own sustainable upcycle brand ‘ELFI’.
She now works to create Textiles that celebrate hand skills and traditional techniques, using the fibres and stitching as a form of drawing and painting.
You can learn more about some of her techniques by booking into workshop with her, or coming to see her work at Fairs and Events. These will be advertised via her Social Media so please make sure to follow in Instagram for updates, as well as signing up to her Newsletter.
